Are You To Blame For Your Slow Metabolism?

If you’ve been trying to lose weight, you’ve no doubt come across a product or food promising to boost your slow metabolism. Basically, the faster your metabolic rate is, the more calories you burn in a given day. Of course, if there are ways to amp up your that rate, there are also ways to slow it down. Keep reading to find out what you may be doing that's actually hindering your weight loss progress and keeping you from reaching your goals sooner.

Three Ways You’re Causing A Slow Metabolism

You’re Dehydrated – staying hydrated throughout the day is important, so it's important that you start drinking water as soon as you wake up. Why? Well, you’ve been asleep for several hours so you starting off with a naturally slow metabolism, and your body has had no water at all, so it’s craving fluids – big time. A large glass (or two) of water before you’ve had anything else to eat or drink jump starts your system out of its sleepy state and helps you feel fuller before you finally do decide to grab something for breakfast.

You’ve Completely Cut Carbs From Your Diet – Believe it or not, you body needs carbohydrates, and too few carbs can freeze your weight loss just as effectively too many carbs can. The energy that carbohydrates provide not only help you power through those workout sessions, they also help build your muscles – and more muscle means a faster metabolic rate. So instead dodging every bowl of rice or piece of bread you see, switch to oatmeal, fresh fruit, or sweet potatoes for your carbs. You’ll see the difference in your workouts in no time.

You’re Simply Not Eating Enough Food – Speaking of eating habits and diet plans, it seems like the most obvious way to lose weight would be to eat as little as possible. While that may make some sense on the surface, your body will actually automatically begin to slow down your metabolism in an effort to conserve every last calorie. In other words, think of it as your body shifting into its “survivor mode.” It has no idea when it’ll next see a substantial meal, so it will conserve energy to combat potential starvation.

If you have the ability to go early in the morning, I think that’s the only way you’ll avoid a multi-hour wait. Arrived at 6:50AM (doors open at 8AM, by that time there were 60+ people in line) and I was the ~20th person camping out in line. Got in the door at 8:40AM. Waited for a few minutes in the waiting room while they took my information. Test itself was quick (

Courteous. Efficient. Competent.

I came in for a cut and they took care of me quickly. Place was very clean, too.

The last thing I wanted to do was go into a medical facility right now. I very much appreciated how professional yet human they were. Thanks to Tara and the whole team there. Doing a great job.
